Here are a few more important things for our new or future staff members. I hope you will be able to benefit from this post and the previous posts made regarding these topics.

1. Handling Power Properly- Handling the power you are given can get difficult sometimes, but with proper skills, you can learn efficient and effective ways to handle it. Power abuse, or misuse of the power you are responsible for, can include things that seem minor or unimportant, but remember to be aware of these things as you move on. Favoring others ( such as excusing them from the rules, not issuing regulations to certain users, or failing to warn certain users, etc. ), and muting or kicking without a valid reason(s) are all examples of power abuse and are not appropriate in any way, shape, or form. To avoid this, remember to evaluate the decisions you make regarding these subjects to make sure they fit the standards necessary for these situations.

2. Handling The Technical Reports- Sometimes, the things users need help with do not necessarily involve a person. Technical issues can become part of your job, and as it is not required, helping users out in this way as well can strengthen the staff-user relationship, and prove you can be reliable. Common problems include, but are not limited to, glitches, freezes, crashes, not being able to send messages/PMS, or not receive messages/PMs. To solve these, you can suggest simple solutions, such as restarting the app/website or restarting the device in which the user is on.

3. Greeting Users / Being Friendly- Being friendly and welcome is important when becoming a staff member, as people will be more likely to feel comfortable and welcomed on our site. I know this can be hard if you aren't usually a person to talk very much, or feel shy when it comes to this topic, but here are some things that could help you.

  • Start small: Start by saying hello or goodbye to a few users. Try starting a conversation with someone by asking how they are doing, how their day has been, etc.
  • Find common ground: Find a topic that would be interesting for you and others to talk about, and start a discussion.
  • Greet others: Welcome users, explain rules and offer your assistance when needed.

4. Breaks / AbsencesIf, for any reason, you need to leave for a moment, or take a break, let someone know. This ensures you are reliable, and that you understand how important communication can be between staff members. If you are leaving temporarily, remember to say so or use your away/busy button instead.

Thanks for reading everyone, have a good day or night.
